Meet Misty Louie, Apsáalooke/Ktunaxa

Good day, my mother is Angela Louie (Tate), her parents were Rosemary Dawes Hill and Elmo Tate Jr., my father is Chief M. Jason Louie and he was raised by his father Robert Louie Sr. and Aunt Christine Louie.

My family is from the Apsáalooke Nation of current day Southeast Montana & the Ktunaxa Nation of current day Southeast British Columbia. I have many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings & friends to thank for my upbringing.I am also a United States Air Force Combat Veteran who served overseas in Operation New Dawn in Baghdad, Iraq 2011. I am a member of the Apsáalooke Woman Warrior and Ktunaxa Crazy Dog Societies. I am a proud U. S. Veteran. I have many close family members who also served in the American and Canadian armed forces. We are Indigenous, it is in our blood to serve as Warriors.

I am now an Alum of Seattle University’s College of Nursing BSN program and a Registered Nurse. I worked in Public Health, Indian Health Services at the Seattle Indian Health Board

My reason for being part of the PNW Healing Hearts Collective is to stand up for our professional workers rights who serve our Indigenous Community in the Seattle Area. The mistreatment of professionals that aim to serve our Indigenous Families ends now.
